The August 12, 2002 Rally Protesting Federal Intervention in our Contract
Negotiations
Over 3000 Longshoremen, trade unionists,
activists and many other supporters were treated to a barbeque put on by
Local 19 at Pier 37. Afterwards the crowd marched down Alaskan Way to Pier 66
for a rally to
protest federal intervention in our contract negotiations.
On the same day ILWU Local 8 Portland held a rally and Local 8 member Jeff Smith sent in a few photos of those who spoke at the lecturn during that event.
