"Pappy"

Sigurd F. SIGURDSON of Ballard, passed away on December 2, 2006, soon after his 88th birthday, from complications due to a recent car accident. Sig was a proud graduate of Ballard High School, class of 1937, who could never leave his beloved community. The last of five siblings, Sig was a Little All- American football player at Pacific Lutheran, an original Baltimore Colt, a professional basketball player, a Marine during World War II, a Bowling instructor, a longshoreman and most important to him, a husband, a father, a grandfather and a great grandfather.

More than anything else, Sig treasured his family and spent most of his later years following his wife of 65 years, Louise, his daughter, Rena and his grandsons, Keven and Kyle. His last four and half years were made even brighter by the addition of two great grandchildren, Nolan, 4 and Addyson, 8 months. As Nolan wrote on a sign for Sig's hospital room, "Pappy is #1".
