Thomas Andrew Marshall
1940 - 2018

Thomas Andrew Marshall was born on January 29, 1940 in St. Louis, MO; passed away February 4, 2018 in Puyallup, WA. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was preceded in death by his mother Ruby Thaut, father Leo Marshall, infant daughter Jaime Marshall, and sister Ruby Howard.

Tom is survived by his wife Kathy Marshall (Spanaway, WA), sister Mary Ann Fox (Tacoma, WA), brother John Marshall (Spanaway, WA), his daughters Sheri Keefer (Graham, WA) and Jill (Rob) van Spaandonk (Graham, WA), sons Jon Marshall (Spanaway, WA) and Scott (Melinda) Marshall (Spanaway, WA), stepsons Zach and Scott Tyler of California and Spanaway, WA, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, and he helped to shape the lives of Brigitte Wilkinson, Baron Banks, Kim Coker, and Krista Cooley.

After running a pizza restaurant for a few years, Tom decided to follow in his father's footsteps working as a Longshoreman, retiring after 32 years from Local 98. Besides working as a Longshoreman, Tom built things; whether it was building houses or duplexes or a wood splitter with his grandson, the satisfaction came at the end of the day witnessing his accomplishments.

Never afraid of hard work, he instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of a good, strong work ethic. Some of Tom's greatest enjoyment came from watching and supporting his children and grandchildren as they participated in school activities and sports. Our Dad and Grandfather was always our biggest cheerleader, and words cannot express the emptiness that is felt with his passing, yet knowing the pain is all gone and that he is at peace brings us much comfort.
