Carl Marsh
1941 - 2004

Carl Raymond MARSH Born Carl Raymond Marsh August 18, 1941 in Longview, Wash. died of a heart attack June 7, 2004. He is preceded in death by his father Clemie J. Marsh and mother Helvi Maria Marsh Stoutt of Longview, Wash., brother Clarence Jerry Marsh of Port Angeles, Wash. and sister Carol J. Reece of Longview, Wash. He is survived by his brother Charles R. Marsh of Green Valley, Ariz., his half-brother Garnett Marsh of Marysville, Wash., his daughter Emily Louise Marsh of Seattle, Wash., her mom Linda Boman Marsh of Seattle, Wash. and many nieces and nephews.

In 1959 he graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview, Wash. He later joined the U.S. Army in 1961, receiving an early discharge when his father passed away in 1964. He attended Lower Columbia College in Longview, Wash. before moving to Seattle in 1968 to work on the waterfront. A longshoreman and Pacific Maritime Association member of the ILWU Local 52 Clerks, on March 5, 2002 he was honored by the union for 30 years of service with an outstanding safety record.

He retired on September 1, 2003. Throughout his life, Carl loved many of the Northwest's great pastimes such as fishing and walking the shores of Long Beach, Wash. An avid coin collector, he also enjoyed astronomy, reading, and playing Cribbage and Yahtzee.
