Phillip Lee Ervin
1941 – 2017

Phillip Lee Ervin
March 12, 1941 – December 20, 2017

Phillip Lee Ervin, 76, of Bothell Washington, passed away at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue on December 20th, 2017 after a long battle with heart disease. Phillip was surrounded by family, and enjoyed a final cup of coffee before peacefully leaving this world. Phillip was born in Oso, Washington, and grew up in Seattle. He was stationed in Wyoming during his time in the Air Force from 1959 to 1962.

He spent 35 years working as a Longshoreman on the Seattle Waterfront until he was forced to retire from a career he loved due to his illness. Phillip was a selfless and generous person, even on his worst days he cared and worried about the well-being of others. He had a quirky sense of humor and a never ending supply of “dad jokes”. Phillip is survived by his wife and best friend, Louise Bouffiou Ervin; his daughter, Tara Ervin; his sister Frieda Swindler; sister-in-law Carol Ervin; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, other family and friends, and the dog who never left his side, Dipper.

A special thank you to nurse Olivia at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue for your kindness, honesty, and compassion in his final days. Also thank you to Rachael at Purdy & Walters Funeral Home for help with arrangements. Phillip did not want any kind of funeral or memorial service and will be cremated. His ashes will be spread in the forest where he loved to camp, fish, and hunt. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Phillip’s name to the American Heart Association.
