Executive Board Meeting 33rd Annual PCPA Convention
Sept. 10, 2000
The meeting was called to
order at 9:30 AM, Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 at the Local 10 Pensioners’ Meeting
Room in the Local 10 Longshore Hall.
All were in attendance at
roll call excepting: Bob Harvey, who was represented by his alternate; Lou
Loveridge, vice president, was absent because of the serious illness of his
wife, Dorothy. For the second time Robert Bolato of San Diego was absent without
explanation.
There was one minute of
silence in memory of deceased brothers and sisters.
Outgoing International
President, Brian McWilliams, spoke to us for about ten minutes thanking us for
past support.
Local 13, Wilmington, CA
presented a resolution to raise the expense stipend for PCPA Executive Board
Members attending the Board’s two meetings per year to $175.00 for one day
only from $100.00 previously paid. Prices have risen everywhere. The stipend for
members who live where the Board meets remains at $60.00.
Local 21, Longview, WA
presented resolutions regarding political contribution limits and full financial
disclosure by parties and candidates; establishing labor representation within
the WTO; an end to the trade embargo and sanctions against Cuba; and calling for
single payer health care at both State and National levels. All resolutions were
seconded, voted and accepted.
It was proposed that we
hire a stenographer, Patricia Mulder, to assist Arne at the two Executive Board
meetings each year. Seconded, voted and accepted.
Nothing was discussed
regarding “lifetime” medical.
The Local 10 Ladies
Auxiliary provided us with a delicious lunch.
In addition to the Board
members the meeting was attended by Local 19 members:
Mr., & Mrs. Russ
Alexander, Mr. & Mrs. Lee Anderson, Mr.& Mrs. Ed Hicks, Mr. & Mrs.
John Johnson, Parker Johnston, Bob Rogers and Charlie Yearka. Also attending
were Ken Swicker, Local 21, Lois Stranahan, Portland, several Canadian members,
a member from Hawaii, Bill Ward and Brian McWilliams. Adjourned at 3:00 PM.
