Financial Report, 1st Quartrer 2007
As of 1 April, 2007 the PCPA
has a total of $28764.51. For the 3 month period the Assn. had an income of
$7637.50 and expenses of $591.66. The club membership is 2124 (US) and 400
(Canada.) This is a decline of 222 members for the quarter
(US.). Executive Board members reported on the
activities of their clubs. There were also reports from Willie Adams, The
Welfare Directors, and the Organizing Dept. Peter Onley reported on our efforts
to organize the Rite-Aid Support Center in Lancaster, Ca.
Center has 600 workers--3rd largest chain in US---Some outlets are
unionized----sells predominately to seniors Program--Adopt-A-Rite-Aid Store,---
for pensioners will kick of June 18th 1) Leafleting---Talk to customers 2) Phone
calls to Rite-Aid headquarters 3) Postcards to Rite-Aid headquarters 4) Outreach
to other seniors.
MISC ITEMS:
Two new container terminals in Portland Ore. Gov. adds two new labor people to
his staff - Maersk is trying to buy a 275 acre site, with dock, for a container
facility in Coos Bay, Ore. There is an adjoining property of 1000 acres also
available.-----Pension plan is over 80% funded----Legislative action, We
contributed to 61 races, 51 were winners.
New Business a) support Rite-Aid campaign b) support Blue Diamond campaign c)
use $5000.00 to send delegates to conferences. d) PCPA will donate $xxx.xx to
the PAC fund and local chapters will make up the funds donated.
