Political Action Fund

We have asked all our members to make a voluntary donation of $50.00 to our Political Action Fund. Most of you have responded and we extend our thanks.

But some have not responded. While we stress that it is voluntary, we want to remind those who may have forgotten, overlooked or just waited, to get your donations in as fast as possible. We know the election is still some months off, but we need to start right away because the job of defeating Bush is the largest and most urgent task we as trade unionists have ever faced.

We don't need to repeat that the Bush corporate administration is the most anti-union to ever be elected. We know how he abolished unions in the federal government when the office of Homeland Security was set up. We know he wanted to do away with overtime pay. We know he has a plan to stop all workers over 65 from getting industry pensions by saying they don't need pensions because they have Social Security and Medicare. Meanwhile he is proposing to privatize Social Security and Medicare, which would weaken or eliminate them. In addition, Alan Greenspan, head of The Federal Reserve has said the budget deficits in multi-billions of dollars can't be cut if Social Security and Medicare aren't seriously cut.

So if you feel threatened personally, defend yourself.

Also, it is not just we as workers that are threatened. Our country would be thrown into political chaos if the above proposals to cut Americans living standards to that level are allowed. And remember, that includes the middle class - everyone but the rich.

So get your donations in. We might even suggest more than one donation from those that can afford. Also, in case you are wondering, all donated money is in a separate Pension Club account. No money will be paid out for any reason without our membership O.K.

  So, give the fifty.
The life style you save
may be your own!
