Brother FREDERICKSEN - a person of few words but big heart.
From Brother AL ALLEN,
Tacoma, WA.:
“Gentlemen:
I retired from ILWU, Local No. 23 on October 1, 1999. I am not a member of the
Pension Club.
However, I feel I should pay my share of the PCPA convention fund expense.
Hence, I have enclosed a check for $30.00.
Fraternally,
AL ALLEN.”
Good for you Brother ALLEN.
The convention fund is coming along pretty well with your kind help. But we do
wish you would join the Pension Club.
From MARYLIN KAMEL,

RE:Donation: $100.00.

for 4 years of PCPA assessment and $10.00 contribution to the RUSTY HOOK. I am

From RICHARD ANDERSON,
Tokeland, WA.
“RUSTY HOOK
Am sending $200.00,
$85.00 for Life membership. $100.00 PCPA and $15 for the HOOK. Good paper. I
miss Toro’s stories.
I’ve been retired for 15 years. I had two heart attacks, 1 heart failure, four
way bypass surgery, prostrate surgery, and they call these the Golden years.
Bullshit.
I live right on the coast. The good thing is on a clear day I can see Hawaii. If
the wind is blowing right I can smell Chinese cooking.
R.E. ANDERSON.”
Well, we are more than
pleased to hear that you are still around and kicking. At least you can kick the
bullshit from underfoot. Thanks a lot, RICHARD, especially for your membership
application.
Letter from ROBERT D.
DUGGAN, Kailua Kona, HI.
“Dear RUDY:
Thank you for the loan of the copies of the RUSTY HOOK. They are interesting and
well written. I was saddened to learn of the deaths of so many old friends in
the Final Dispatch column - 1998-2000.
I am enclosing my check for $15.00 for the convention assessment. Also enclosed
are 3 printed mailing labels at our Hawaii address. We are in Hawaii from
November 1 - May 1....
The Post Office will not forward the RUSTY HOOK because of the bulk rate
postage, so encourage Del to use the mailing labels for the Winter 2000 issue
and the next issue if posted before April 25, 2000 -
Thanks, Bob.”
Glad to be able to keep you
abreast of our Club’s activities, Bob, and for complementing the RUSTY HOOK.
As many of you recall, Bob worked the waterfront as union member, and working
his way through law school, became an attorney and represented Local 19 in the
past. Our editor, Del Castle once packed sacks with him at Fishers Mill.
