Summer 2003
From ZACHARY GALBRAITH, Seattle, WA. $50.00.
"I hope I gave everyone a good show",
says ZACHARY.
Thank you, ZACHARY. Donations are always a good show as well.
From the following without notes, but with full thanks to them all:
From ANGIE SCOTT, Seattle, WA. - $20.00.
From TANK NELSON, Los Angeles, CA. - $20.00.
From ROMAN JAVILLOMAR, Seattle, WA.- $20.00.
From DALLAS DeLAY, Seattle, WA. - $ 100.00.
Thank you all so much!
We also received two publications from our correspondents in Port
Kembla, Australia. One is the Maritime Workers' Journal which displays on its
cover the slogan: PEACE IS UNION BUSINESS. We like that. The other is called The
Sea and Waterfront. It is put out by a group called NUSAA. That stands for
NATIONAL UNIONIST SOCIALIST ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION.
The MWJ reports
on a struggle to keep non-Australian ships out of Australian ports. It says;
"Flag of convenience ships shamed in MUA protest, the Australian Associated
Press report was headlined in the international press": "'Merchant
seafarers made waves outside a shipping company's Sydney offices today,
protesting against the registration of ships under cost-saving 'flags of
convenience.'"
We all know the
history of "flag of convenience" ships. They have been used for years
as a means of cutting union wages.
The other journal with
its "Socialist Activities" is promoting a campaign to stop efforts of
the Australian Medicare.
