From DON REIDEL, Port Angeles, WA.
The RUSTY HOOK Brothers BERG, CASTLE, CUNNINGHAM, & MINK: The donation for
the strike fund – I would like to donate in memory of BOB TEETER who was my
hunting buddy. Gladys, his wife, was wondering if because BOB died that the Hook
had stopped coming? Could you send it to her
A job well done on the contract. DON REIDEL." Will do,
DON and thanks for the note and donation.
From TANK NELSON, Morro Bay, CA.
He sends us a number of interesting clippings about the life of a Local 13
retiree, unfortunately too much to cover in our RUSTY HOOK. He does say:
"FRED, DEL, CURT, ART: "I'm hooked. & laugh lots!"
Seems he travels around L.A. area quite a bit, enjoying his
retirement. He sends a very timely quote from William Shakespeare:
"Beware of the leader who bangs the drums of war in
order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor for patriotism is indeed a
double edged sword
It emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when
the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate the
mind has closed. The leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the
citizenry. Rather the citizenry infused with fear and blinded with patriotism,
will offer up all of their rights to the leader and gladly so. How do I know,
for this is what I have done, and I am Caesar."
A very timely quote., TANK!
He also sends along a "20.00 tarpaulin muster. Buy
coffee and donuts. " L.L."
Many thanks for the twenty bucks, TANK'
