Solidarity Rally
June 27th, 2002

Terminal 25, Seattle -- ILWU Longshoremen held rallies up and down the coast to show our unity with the Teamsters and the International Longshoremen's Association. ILWU Local 32 from Everett ILWU Locals 500 and 502 from Canada, our Marine Division the IBU, Marine, Engineers Beneficial Association MEBA, Sailors Union of the Pacific SUP, Masters Mates and Pilots MMP, Service Employees International Union SEIU. Office & Professional Employees Union OPEIU and many other unions and community groups came to support us in the 2002 contract negotiations. In Seattle we had about 400 people attend to share conversation and good food. Port Commissioner Lawrence Molloy was a guest speaker and he gave us his support as well as Mark Mc Dermott from the Mayor's office. ILWU Local 19 Vice President Del Bates and Dave Freiboth National President of the IBU also gave speeches.

Dock strike doesn't appear imminent, even if talks fail
