"Louis"

In Memory Elmer M. "Louis" Budnick, 90, a lifetime resident of Seattle, was raised up to his Lord on Saturday, January24, 2009 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA.

He was born August 11, 1918 to Martin Budinich and Joanna (Steffinich) Budinich and was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Magnolia where he presided. "Louie" served in the US Army and Navy, was a commercial fisherman and retired as a longshoreman in Seattle.

He spent his retirement years enjoying fun filled times with his family and friends and "wintered" in Arizona for many years. His sense of humor and loving, caring ways kept his family and friends on their toes and at the edge of their seats with his stories and memories of his full, adventuresome life.

"Louie" was preceded in death by his father "Papa" Martin Budinich, mother, Joanna, seven brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife Beulah, six children, eighteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to give thanks to the staff at Cherry Hill Swedish Hospital in Seattle and Life Care Center of Mount Vernon for their compassion and care. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 30th, 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with a reception to follow and burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Seattle. Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home of Mount Vernon.
