Clear the Air!

Teamsters, dockworkers, environmentalists, and health experts support legislation to require marine terminals to open more gates and extend their hours - to end the long lines of idling trucks spewing diesel fumes into our communities.

Port truckers are not paid for the hours they spend in lines, breathing their own exhaust.

Who opposes this clean air legislation? The port authorities and the foreign owned steamship lines. they say clean air regulators will make them less competitive - even though we are promoting these reforms for ports from coast to coast.

And don't believe industry claims that work rules prevent efficient gate operations. that's just a smoke screen. The Longshore unions are part of the solution, not the problem.
